Q: What is Alice in the Village?

A: Alice in the Village is an Alice in Wonderland themed retail shop and tea room.

Q: What do you sell in your retail section?

A: We have a huge variety of items and products like teas, teacups, teapots, books, jewelry, gifts, accessories and a lot more.

​

Q: What can I order from the counter?

A: We offer a large selection of tea drinks like bubble tea, butterfly pea tea, chai, matcha and more. We also offer mini treats and pastries.

​

Q: Do you provide entertainment or character meet and greets?

A: While our shop is very interactive and whimsical, we do not offer any characters meeting or any entertainment / shows. 

 

Q: Are you a restaurant?

A: No, we are not a restaurant and do not offer table service.

Q: Do you offer afternoon tea or high tea?

A: We currently do not offer a traditional table service afternoon tea or high tea, however, we created a new afternoon experience called A-La-Cartepiller, a new easy way to create your own after noon experience.

Q: Are you offering mini sandwiches?

A: No, as of June 1, 2023, we do not offer mini sandwiches.

 

Q: Do you offer seating?

A: Yes. We have very limited indoor seating (first come first serve) and a lot more outdoor seating.

 

Q: Do we need reservations?

A: No. Our indoor / outdoor seating are first come first serve.

Q: Why did you change your tea service and no longer offer table service like you used to?

A: Due to the crazy pricing increases of food, supply chain issues, increases in labor rates and difficulty finding kitchen workers, we have decided to remove the traditional table service.

By doing so, we did not need to increase prices by 30%-50%

Q: I live far away and fear I won't have a table now that you do not offer reservations, what should I do?

A: We understand your concern and we agree that during certain times it might be difficult finding a table (weekends, school breaks), however, we did increase our outdoor seating to close to 50 seats (compared to 18 we had before). We hope that with a casual service, tables will be available faster than with traditional service.

Q: Do you provide allergy free food option?

A: It really depends on what kind of allergy you have. If it's a life threatening allergy, we do not recommend eating at Alice as all our food is processed in the same kitchen with other allergens. 

​

Q: Do you offer Gluten Free items?

A: Yes. Our macarons are certified GF as well as our teas. We also offer GF scones (unless we are sold out).

Q: Do you offer party option or large group options?

A: No. We currently do not offer any party options.

 

Q: What are the best days to visit?

A: Weekdays are less busy than weekends. 

 

Q: What are your hours?

A: Check our location / hours page as our hours change based on the season.

Q: Do you allow pets?

A: No. Pets are not allowed as we are a food establishment and as per food regulations, pets are not allowed in the store (excluding service animals). As much as we love animals, they do have to wait outside so we don't lose our license. We do have outdoor seating so someone in your party can order inside and you and your furry friend can still enjoy some treats!

Q: Can I just stop by and look around?

A: Absolutely.

​

Q: Do you have other locations?

A: No, we have one location in Mystic CT.

​

Q: Why are you sometimes out of items like Boba or Macarons?

A: Our items availability depends on how busy the shop is. While we try to plan ahead and have enough to get us through the weekend, we can not anticipate when we will be sold out. 

We cook the Boba fresh everyday and during busy days, we make several batches throughout the day. It takes about 45 min to cook the Boba so sometimes we might have a period of time that we will not have the boba available until we are done cooking the new batch.

***if we run out of boba about an hour before closing, we will not make a new batch and only offer the popping bubbles***

 

Q: Do you offer franchise option?

A: No, we currently do not offer franchise option.

 

Q: Would you consider a donation to a charity?

A: We love helping our local community and we budget a certain amount every year we gladly donate.

*please note that due to overwhelming requests we receive, we currently donate to local communities that are 15 miles from Mystic CT.
